Shipping & Handling

Will I be charged sales tax on my order?

The Children's Place, Gymboree, Sugar & Jade and PJ Place are required by law to add the appropriate sales tax on any order shipped to a state where we operate a retail store. Please visit our Store Locator to identify the states with retail locations. Sales tax will be automatically calculated during the checkout process according to applicable local and state laws. Please note: Some states require us to tax shipping charges as well as merchandise. If you return an item for a refund, you will also receive a refund for the sales tax you paid for that item; however, you will not receive a refund for the sales tax you paid on the shipping and handling of that item, as the shipping and handling charges are nonrefundable once an item has been shipped.

Carriers Final mile delivery for Standard Shipping will be usually completed by USPS or FedEx. In certain markets, regional carriers such as OnTrac and LaserShip will complete delivery. Most expedited services are completed by FedEx.


Although you may receive an Order Number, orders are not fully processed until we can validate your credit card and address information. This process may delay your shipment, and could result in your order being canceled. If we are unable to accept your order, you will receive a Cancel Confirmation email message.

What is Free Standard Shipping? (FedEx, USPS, OnTrac)

Orders placed using Standard Service will be delivered within 10 business days from the date you place your order, pending credit authorization and address verification. Final mile delivery for Standard Shipping will be usually completed by USPS or FedEx. In certain markets, regional carriers such as OnTrac and LaserShip will complete delivery. Most expedited services are completed by FedEx.

What is Express Shipping?

Express Service orders placed before 11am ET Monday - Friday (excluding Holidays) will usually ship the same day. Otherwise, they will ship the next business day (business days are Monday through Friday excluding Holidays). Express Service orders placed on Friday after 11am ET will ship on Monday.

Express Service is only available for orders shipping to a street address in the continental U.S., AK, HI and PR. Express Service is not available for orders shipping to a PO Box, U.S. Territories, Military addresses and some rural areas.

What is Rush Shipping?

Rush Service orders placed before 11am ET Monday - Friday (excluding Holidays) will usually ship the same day. Otherwise, they will ship the next business day (business days are Monday through Friday excluding Holidays). Rush Service orders placed on Friday after 11am ET will ship on Monday.

Why is my order arriving in multiple shipments?

We’ll always try to ship an entire order together, but there are times certain items will ship from different fulfillment centers or directly from local stores. This is all based on inventory availability. In the event we need to split your order, you’ll receive an email that will include the expected ship dates and items in each shipment.

Will I be charged for shipping on multiple shipments?

When we divide an order into multiple shipments, you will not be charged an additional shipping fee. In the event there is a shipping charge, it will only apply to the first shipment.

Will there be multiple authorization holds on my credit card for multiple shipments?

If paying with credit card, no. Only one authorization hold will remain on the account until all items in the order have shipped. Please note the original authorization hold will remain until all shipments have been completed.

If paying with Venmo or Apple Pay, yes. There may be multiple authorization holds on the account until all items in the order have shipped; Reauthorizations happen after each shipment is processed and occur on the amount of the balance of items that have not yet shipped. Please be advised that the time it takes for authorization holds to drop is dictated by the issuing bank.
